Education is a fundamental pillar of contemporary societies, playing a crucial role in shaping individuals and structuring communities. Since its inception, the study of education has been central to sociology, offering deep insights into how educational practices and institutions shape and are shaped by social dynamics. This book aims to explore and broaden understanding of the complex interactions between education and society, through a detailed and critical analysis of the main theories and practices of the Sociology of Education.The aim of this book is to provide a comprehensive and critical overview of the Sociology of Education, addressing both theoretical foundations and contemporary and future issues. Comprising ten chapters, the book covers a range of topics from fundamental sociological theories and educational stratification, to global educational policies and the impact of globalization on education. Each chapter is designed to reflect the complexity and multiplicity of educational phenomena, offering a critical perspective that takes into account cultural diversity and regional specificities.
