The effects of fertilizer inputs depend on many factors that influence the selection of fertilizer rate and application method and among these factors are soil characteristics. However, the examples of interaction of physical, chemical and biological fertility of the soil show the need to approach its study by a global approach. The constitution or the variation of the soil behavior often have an obvious influence on the vegetation, but, it is not always easy to find the real causes and to explain the mechanisms of intervention.
