Solution Methods for Generalized Flowshop Problems

Nowadays, globalization has become an issue which could not be ignored by production companies. It is expected from the companies to provide the customer demands at optimum amount and quality, at less cost. That is why the companies, which try to decrease their costs, have targeted to keep the prices of their production at competitive levels. Those companies that wish to keep their position in the sector have hastened the revision of production process and modern production techniques by paying more attention to R&D activities. This study plays a significant role in favor of giving an effective response to scheduling variable demands in varying production environments. The companies, which are aware of this fact, pay a specific sensitivity to scheduling issue. The aim of this book is to present effective solution approaches for a scheduling problem that have jobs with different number of operations that must be processed on consecutive machines regarding to the machine eligibility and resource restrictions in a flowshop machine environment.
