Some Complexities in Education
Details
This book deals with Delegation of duties, power and authority; Struggles that surround the shift from teacher-centred to child-centred pedagogies; existence of Gender-Divide in some schools, and Mushrooming of Educational Policies. Pros and cons are explored and suggestions given on how well to deal with some of these complexities. The book indicates that some schools are faced with comprehensive changes such as in the area of curriculum, restructuring and size. Various aspects of delegation are explored: fears and challenges, benefits of delegation and the involvement of teaching staff, the community in which the school is and pupils. Segregated Pupil selection, Teenage pregnancy; and Single-sex schools are presented as avenues around which gender is used as a facade to employ gender differentiation between boys and girls, men and women, ladies and gentlemen; with one gender taking advantage of the other.
