Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) is a designation under US terrorism sanction regulations (specifically, under Executive Order 13224, which President George W. Bush signed pursuant to, among other authorities, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, National Emergencies Act, and United Nations Participation Act two weeks after the 9/11 attacks to obstruct terrorist funding) by the US of individuals, businesses, charities, and extremist groups engaged in terrorist activities. Designation as an SDGT allows the US to block the assets of foreign individuals and entities that commit, or pose a significant risk of committing, acts of terrorism, and to block the assets of individuals and entities that provide support, services, or assistance to, or otherwise associate with, terrorists and terrorist organizations designated under the Order, as well as their subsidiaries, front organizations, agents, and associates.
