Studies on anther culture of some cucurbits

In vitro development of anthers from different cucurbits was examined to obtained haploid plantlets. Cold-treated anthers from young flower buds developed more callus. MS medium was superior over B5 medium in most genotypes. incorporation of glutamine, ABA and 9% sucrose to MS medium enhanced callus development into embryo-like structures.
