Teachers' Attitudes Towards Counselling Adolescents:
Details
Apart from battling with the peculiar challenges of their developmental stage, adolescents are also vulnerable to the challenges which bedevil the society in general. Such challenges entail homelessness, poor employment prospects, the HIV and AIDS pandemic , domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, unstable relationships and poverty. While it is tentatively true that counselling is not a panacea for all social ills, it can arguably go a long way towards minimising the ravaging effects of such cahallenges. This book explores the attitudes of secondary school teachers, including school administrators, towards the counselling of adolescent learners. The book also analyses some of the variables which determine the attitudes of teachers towards the counselling of adolescents at secondary school level. The frequency with which counselling is considered as an option when handling secondary school pupils with problems is also scrutinised. The book is likely to be beneficial to secondary school teachers, adolescent learners and students in colleges and universities.
