Communication in counseling plays a vital role in the whole process. It helps the process to be effective and fruitful without communication the process would not even work because, both the counselor and the counselee would not understand each other. It is through communication both speak together. This communication can also be oral, with this understanding it is important to understand what communication is. It will be noted that communication is not just a one person show. The person must have others to whom he or she is communicating. It will also be important to be able to ascertain when communicating has taken place. One of the skills that is also highlighted in communication is listening. It will be noted that the counselor must exercise this skill keenly in order to her what the counselee is saying and the case in point. Similarly the counselee must also be a good listener in order to get all what the counsellor is telling him or her so that he or she receive healing for the problem. Communication will involve the different types of counseling namely family counseling career counselling for students wanting to make choices, drug and substance consoling, school counseling .

Rev James Ng'ang'a Kamau is a teacher of the word and a minister of the gospel. He hold a Bachelor of Theology and a masters in ministry. He is currently working for his doctorate in ministry with Salt lake Bible College.He is married to Pts. Monica Wambui and together they are blessed with a married Daughter and two grandchildren .
