The Notion of Place & Belonging
Details
There is a preoccupation of explaining how we could describe ourselfs in a way that has been compounded at different places, times and in different contexts. As for many of transnational artists' experiences, included I, are crystallised throughout the social and psychological space that they create for themselves, at their 'sacred places' - studios, rather than homes; For my practice, my studio is a 'sacred' place and space. It is my 'home', 'mosque', 'church', and my 'temple'. It is the place that I belong to, it is the place of: searching/making - focusing/refining - observing/reflecting - observing/reflecting - responding/filtering - inspiring/influencing - connecting/exploring - interpreting/transforming - creating/documenting.
