Tourism Impacts

Over the past few decades impacts from tourism have been given great attention because of the rapid global growth of the industry. Due to the positive economic results it can bring, developing countries focus on tourism as a main strategy to improve the standard of living. The socio-economic impacts that also occur are usually perceived to be negative. Overall, the relationship between economic and socio-economic impacts is substantial and complex. This book shows how tourism economic development in Srah Srang Cheung village, Angkor Park, Cambodia, has been responsible for substantial changes in the local society. Traditional farming and education in the village are also examined in the context of revenue received from tourism development funds. The monograph identifies key impacts of tourism revenue and needs for improvement, offers an indispensable source and interacts with professionals in tourism management, especially at a living heritage site.
