Details

The main objectives of the study were to evaluate the electronic information needs and awareness about the available electronic information resources among Punjab University students. It was also a try to explore the use of information resources which fulfill their information need, whether print or electronic and their attitude, perception and problems about using electronic information resources. For this purpose a survey of four faculties was conducted which included 13 departments. Findings of the study reveal that most of the respondents use internet as their first resource to fulfill their information need. Higher Education Commission (HEC) subscribed databases were not used at maximum level, because of not proper ICT skills of respondents and limited location access. It is suggested that proper training of information professionals to market the available electronic resources is required. It is also needed to start information literacy programmes to skill up respondents that they can better survive in electronic information environment.
