WOMEN AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Women's Studies has now emerged as an independent discipline and established as an important field of research across the globe with specific topics related to women's experiences in their day to-day life. One such dimension is violence towards women, which not only indicates men's violence and power over women, but, constrains women, and limits their freedom of choice and movement. These are the live issues and have become the important matters of global agenda. This book discusses about the human rights conferences at the International Level and brings out the efforts taken by the UNO for the development of women. The book elucidtes various social evils against women with primary data and provides information on legislative measures introduced by the Indian Government. It also discusses about the women welfare schemes introduced by the Tamil Nadu Government and provides suggestions for the betterment of women in the State. As all these informations are not available in a single book, this book will be useful for those who would like to do further research on Women's Studies and to the students and the teaching faculty as a reference book.
