Women, Violence and Comorbidity
Details
The impact of violence in terms of mental health problems including thoughts of suicide is well known. However, there is also a link between women s use of licit and illicit substances when violence has been experienced a topic most relevant in many Western societies. This book introduces up-to-date research on co-occurring mental health and substance use problems as particular issues for women subjected to violence by a male intimate partner. It provides insight into this association, which has received little attention so far. The book provides important evidence of the far-reaching impact of sexual violence in the family home. As such, it is an essential source of reference for professionals and students, for policy makers and interested community members.
