Natural products are the most important source of traditional medicine and have played a major role in the discovery of leads for the development of drugs to treat human diseases. Quinine, artemisinin, licochalcone A and tazopsine are examples of plant-derived natural products which have revealed antimalarial potency that give the important pharmacophore for the drug development. Many researchers focusing 1,2,4-trioxanes as an active pharmacophore from artemisinin as a lead for the development of new drug like molecules.

Autorentext

Dr. Mohammad Hassam (left) worked on trioxane at CDRI, Lucknow, India during his Ph.D. thesis work and currently doing PDF research at Academia Sinica, Taiwan. Subhendu Chakroborty(right)also did his Master thesis work on trioxane from CDRI and currently he is a senior research fellow (CSIR) at Ravenshaw University, India.
