Details
Education is often defined as the process through which individuals learn knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and attitudes. In this regard, a well-educated person is someone thinking critically, seeking for alternative viewpoints and analyze carefully, speaking and writing persuasively. In educational terms, a well-educated person changes his/her behavior in the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. Thus, education cannot take place only in school setting, named as formal setting, but also in outside of a standard school setting, which is informal education. With formal education, teachers play important roles in creating an effective learning environment. Therefore, they are supposed to meet educational standards, to apply appropriate teaching strategies and effective classroom management to maximize student learning. With informal education, everything around individuals are schools, such as their home and the community they live, and teachers, such as their friend and experience. Both formal and informal education are expected to serve students to engage in real learning activities.
