Emerging technologies are shaping our societies. Advancement in technology has helped us grow economically, environmentally, and socially. 3D printing (or additive manufacturing) is an emerging digitalized technology that is attracting a wide interest. It is an emerging, multidisciplinary field which includes engineering, biology, medicine, material science, and computer science. It is the process of joining materials to make objects from three-dimensional model data, usually layer upon layer. This process contrasts with traditional subtractive manufacturing technologies in which parts of a large block of material are selectively removed. 3D Printing has become a pillar of the modern manufacturing revolution. It is regarded as a disruptive technology that will change manufacturing. Ultimately, 3D printing is the printer of the future.The book is organized into 17 chapters that summarize how 3D printing technology is applied in manufacturing, business, education, healthcare, food industry, construction, architecture, pharmaceuticals, dentistry, sculpture, fashion, jewelry, automotive, aerospace, space, and defense.
