A CDA of Feminism in American and British Political Contexts
Details
CDA is controversial in nature. Its proponents aspire to establish such a field independently with its own aims, principles, procedures, and modes of analysis. On the other hand, its opponents claim that CDA is fraught with problems. The first and foremost problem is its lack of the tools of analysis, that is to say, CDA's tools are those of other linguistic theories. The second problem is that CDA is accused of being subjective . Its proponents contrive such subjectivity by adopting certain objective criteria, depending on different methods, which they resort to when critically examining a social phenomenon. However, its opponents claim that CDA cannot contrive its subjectivity since what is hidden in text or talk is relatively understood. To find away, CDA analysts argue for identifying the word critical. That is, what it means for a particular research study. For the purpose of the current study, the researchers identify what it means to be critical. It is not to evaluate subjectively nor does it stand against a specific phenomenon, but to critically analyse received ideas and hope for developing novel ones.
