A Cognitive Linguistic Study of Space and Motion in English and Arabic

One of the serious attempts to investigate space and motion as cognitively represented in English and Arabic. The field is a rich resource for those interested in cognitive linguistics. The book is part of the efforts within cognitive linguistics and an integral part of a set of linguistic investigations , which includes research efforts considering language as mental and cognitive. It is an attempt to see how English and Arabic lexicalise motion events according to Talmy's model. A number of cognitive linguistic theories, models and frameworks were reviewed. These reviews are of importance for the students of cognitive linguistics.

Ali M. Hussein holds a BA in English and MA in Applied Linguistics from College of Arts, University of Basrah. Dr.Adel A. Thamery has been a faculty member at the College of Arts, Uinversity of Basrah since 1998. He holds BA in English, MA in Applied Linguistics, and PhD in Linguistics.
