A comparative case study of co-management of national parks in Malawi

Co-management of natural resources emerged from muddling expedition in search for solutions to environmental challenges associated with exclusionary paradigm. Its evolution is as broad as the contexts within which the concept is applied as well as the diversity of outcomes wherein panacean lens fail to discern. This study downs a new dimension in contextualizing co-management for long term biodiversity and livelihood goals using the case of national parks in Malawi.

The author holds over a decade-long experience in wildlife management, entrenched on participatory environmental policy. Therefore, this work was inspired by the desire to contribute to sustainable natural resources management through co-management of national parks.
