A Comparative Study of Kiganda Proverbs and King Solomon's Proverbs

This book is a comparative study between the presentation of women in Kiganda Proverbs and the Biblical Proverbs of King Solomon. The term 'proverb' means a short well-known statement that gives practical advice about life. The research problem consisted in the realization that no comparison of the presentation of women in Kiganda proverbs and the proverbs of Solomon had ever been made. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between the presentation of women in Kiganda proverbs and Solomon's proverbs. The objective of the study was to establish the relationship between presentation of women in Kiganda and Solomon's proverbs. The research findings establish that a lot of proverbs portray women's roles, status and other attributes. It further establishes that there are several similarities and differences in the portrayal of women in the two respective literary bodies of proverbs. The proverbs under study are categorized as follows: Kiganda Proverbs are forty five-of which six are on Birth, three on Death, three on Women as Wealth, five on Girls and Mothers as Disadvantages, and twenty-eight on Beauty. Solomon's Proverbs under stury are sixty-six in total.
