A Contrastive Analysis of Stress in English and Kurdish

This book is concerned with a contrastive study of stress in Standard English and Kurdish. Differences in the placement of primary stress in English words and its shifts in connected speech are expected to pose problems for the Kurdish learners of English, particularly because in English, stress seems to be subject to no rules. It is restricted to an area, if not to a certain syllable, in Kurdish.

Rawand Sabah is a lecturer of English Language and Linguistics. He obtained his M.A degree from Suleymania University. He is now teaching undergraduate levels in Iraqi Kurdistan. He also teaches translation and translated many books from English to Kurdish. The book is about a comparative study of stress in English and Kurdish.
