In this book, author Megan Goins examines the history of the conflict in its African and global context, as well as the reasons it has been so widely ignored around the world. Her analysis spans the history of the twentieth century, from Belgian colonialism to today's conflict mineral trade. She also examines wars in neighboring Rwanda and Burundi, which have significantly affected the Congo, with violence spreading across borders. Megan L. Goins is a writer and analyst, working within the U.S. federal government. She received her bachelor's degree in International Affairs and PPE (Politics, Philosophy, Economics) and a master's in International Peace and Conflict Resolution. She has researched conflicts in Africa and the Middle East, focusing on the DRC, Rwanda, and Burundi.
