This work explores how Kenyan women's opportunitiesfor education and economic empowerment have changedover time, beginning with colonialism and ending withthe changes brought about by the Kenyan Constitutionof 2010. The first chapter reflects on the author'spersonal experience and research in Mombasa, Kenya,while the remaining chapters utilize research onKenya as a whole. Women's past and presentopportunities are contrasted to those of men, with anemphasis on the specific changes in recent decadesthat have affected Kenyan women's opportunities.
