This study was carried out to investigate perceptual convergence as a measure of the intelligibility and acceptability of three NE Accents with a view to arriving at a possible norm of usage for teaching, learning, communication and other societal needs. The subjects of the study were one hundred and eighty (180) Nigerians of varied socio-economic, educational and ethno-linguistic backgrounds. These were drawn using random sampling from the old regional headquarters of Enugu, Ibadan and Kaduna. Incidental sampling was used to get the various offices, establishments and institutions.

Fatimayin Foluke Florence holds a Ph.D. in English language Education with research interests in Applied Linguistics, Language Teaching and Use as well as distance education. She has written papers in academic journals, attended many national/international workshops, seminars and conferences. She is a member of many professional bodies.
