A MYANMAR MISSIONARY DILEMMA
Details
MISSION ENCOUNTERING MILITARISM: One of the missionary dilemmas confronting the Myanmar context is advocacy and action for human rights in the face of a brutal military regime, and solidarity with the suffering and silencing of 55 million people. The challenges of mission are both universal and particular, and the context of Myanmar requires a quilting of a commitment to human rights, to which all nations and cultures should be held accountable, and the diverse contexts of oppression in Myanmar its people its land. A response is demanded! While the pursuit of international human rights seems impossible from within this context, solidarity is not! Sparks of hope dwell in the Mission of the One God the continual sending of the Word in us to be broken and re-membered as an act of solidarity with humanity and the entire Cosmos. This solidarity begins with a group being moved to help carry the weight of the reality born by the Crucified people, and the Crucified land, to stand with them, in the hope of our world truly becoming One in all Love in all Justice. For anyone seeking a prophetic missionary spirituality, this could be a useful lectio.
