A new solutions for caries prevention: silver diammine fluoride

Topical Silver diamine fluoride is a clear liquid that is painted on the surface lesion is in milligram amounts and arrests to prevent the lesion. Silver ions are responsible for the antimicrobial action of silver diamine fluoride. It is used to promote remineralisation of tooth mineral -hydroxyapatite that is under constant challenge of acid in the oral cavity. The topical application of SDF is cost-effective in the management of caries. Clinical studies have also shown that SDF is effective in arresting enamel and dentin caries.
