A Play and its Exegesis

Critical interpretations of plays by their own authors offer a unique insight into the workings of a particular piece. In this book, the play Southern Quest is examined by its creator in an essay that maps out the relationship between verbal and non-verbal information in contemporary theatrical writing. The ways in which these variables interrelate define the type of affiliation between theatre and drama in any given text. This critical analysis contends that the verbal and the non-verbal represent the two ends of the spectrum of possibilities of any written theatre piece.
