A Plea for Total Care
Details
Blurb The doctor-patient relationship in Egypt is characterized by miscommunication and dissatisfaction. Such relationship matters especially when dealing with chronic and life-threatening illnesses that require longer duration of dealing with doctors. Doctor-shopping is prevailing in Egypt due to the lack of trust in doctors. This book examines four main bioethical concerns elicited within the doctor-patient relationship: equal allocation of resources, disclosure of diagnosis, decision-making, and informed consent, to look closely at the interplay of factors determining such relationship within the context of cancer care in Egypt. The book aims at pinpointing the factors that may help improve the doctor-patient relationship with patients with breast cancer in particular. The book deals with the doctor-patient relationship from a holistic biopsychosocial approach.
