A Road Map

This book underlines the challenges young people face in Nigeria due to poverty, and the potential policy remedies. Unlocking the potential of young people is a road map to a better society. Young people hold the key to a rapid and stable development of a nation when their challenges are identified and timely addressed. This book, thus, is not only significant, but also appropriate to national governments and organisations in dire need of a constructive redress to the awful consequences of youth poverty. The book underscores that poverty in Nigeria can be reduced successfully through the effective management of youth poverty from the economic-empowerment policy perspective, particularly monetary, fiscal and labour, in conjunction with other sectors that aid poverty reduction. These include the private sector, health, agriculture, education, defence, and the judiciary. It is not in doubt that a nation's work force, growth, peace and security depends on well engaged, healthy, protected, and enthusiastic youth. Among other conclusions drawn, responsive government and effective legal system are emphasized in the book as the catalyst to the emancipation of young people from poverty.
