Details

The book is based on a comprehensive master's thesis submitted in 2003, including a field study. It starts with the historical background and characteristics of content-based language instruction (CBI), how it differs from ESP and continues with the basics of a syllabus design. Following, it elaborates on a detailed needs analysis in a specific field comprising student, teachers of English and recently-graduate student questionnaires. It should especially be noted that the thesis in the book led to a dramatic change in the specific institution mentioned in the book, which now has been using an authentic CBI-based English language teaching system having its own in-house produced teaching materials according to the principles of CBI.
