The book titled "A SCIENTIFIC DISCOURSE ON KSARAS TRA- HISTORY, PREPARATION, COMPARISON, ANALYSIS & CASE REPORTS" elucidates various aspects of Ksarasutra technique as the name suggests. Ayurveda, the ancient Indian System of Medicine advocates different ways of management of anorectal conditions like Fistula-in-ano with due consideration to protect the normalcy of sphincter mechanism while treating the disease with highly efficacious methods with safe and easily available drugs. Ksarasutra technique is an age old, minimally invasive, para-surgical procedure employed in various surgical conditions like Anal Fistula, Hemorrhoids, Polyp and Sinus management. Ksarasutra is a medicated seton prepared using herbomineral ingredients. Finely powdered drugs are smeared repeatedly on surgical thread until it attains therapeutic effect. Caraka Samhitha, has described that Ksarasutra should be used in curing Fistula-in-ano (Bhagandara). Bhagandara is a type of chronic sinus in the perineum that discharges pus or blood. It not only the includes different types of fistula-in-ano but also the sinuses communicating to uro-genital tract.
