A Scrutiny of the Ivorian National Human Rights Commission

While the importance of National Human Rights Institutions are growing in international human rights law, due to the role these institutions are expected to play at the national and international level in the effective implementation of human rights, it is worth to evaluate such type of institutions in their respective countries. This is what is attempted by Bruno Menzan in this paper as regard to the National Human Rights Commission of Côte d'Ivoire. The author used the measurement instrument of such type of institutions; The Paris Principles. In addition, he explored other issues that are hindering factors to the institution. Finally, the author made a set of recommendations to be applied in a view to upgrade the quality and performance of the Ivorian National Human Rights Commission.

Born in 1982 in the eastern part of Côte d'Ivoire, Bruno Menzan was first educated at the Université de Bouaké in Côte d'Ivoire from which he holds a Licence and a Maîtrise en Droit Public; he then completed an LL.M in Human Rights and Democratisation at the Faculty of Law of University of Pretoria, South Africa.
