A Strategy for the Deconstruction of the Dichotomic Structure of the European Discourse on Migration since 2015
Details
A new strategy deconstructs the binary structure of the European migration discourse since 2015. It reveals concrete reality: from the impact of post-9/11 crisis on European politics, to the impact of modern science's abstract conceptualizations on media. It draws on Heidegger's existential analysis, and Derrida's notion of justice, among others.
Migration is normal. But as a topic it fuels a polarized political climate. It undermines the European Union: its political unity, and its founding principles of human rights and human dignity. This inquiry deconstructs the binary structure of this political climate. For this end, the author has developed a new strategy, which stems from a critical reading of modern continental philosophy. Her deconstruction strategy shows how a subjectcentered philosophy, the use of abstract language, particularly inspired by Max Weber's legacy, and the War on Terror discourse since 9/11, contribute to a binary structure of thinking, which has shaped the public European Migration Discourse since 2015.
