A study of oxides formed on hot-rolled steel strip

Oxidation is one of the most pervasive problems in almost all metals and their alloys processing at elevated temperatures. Useful to experts and nonspecialists alike, this book keeps enabling a clear focus on the oxides formation, their deformation behaviour and properties during hot strip rolling process. The approaches to examination iron oxides, texture analysis via EBSD and the enthalpy-based numerical simulation, provide the effective frameworks for some investigation on the oxidation of the other steel compositions. A facile and controllable magnetite microstructure is proposed and can be applied to pickle-free steel with desired tribological properties in downstream metal processing. Dr. Yu graduated from University of Wollongong with PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2014. Her doctoral research focused on developing pickle-free steel, an tight oxide scale during high temperature processing, including oxidation mechanism, deformation behaviour and tribological properties. She has published 23 articles and has 3 patents.
