A Study of T. Williams' plays In the light of Kristevan Subjectivity
Details
Tennessee Williams' three famous plays, The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat On a Hot Tin Roof are all known and considered significant in the world of literature. The research aims to study theses three plays on the perspective of Julia Kristeva's subjectivity, to demonstrate that how some of the characters including the main ones try to get rid of their society's rules and established conventions while this endeavor has another aspect of getting rid of one's subjectivity. Through these three plays, it will be shown that how theses characters are unsuccessful in their attempt to rebel against the father realm and ho the Symbolic label them as drunk, insane and crippled. The consequence is that their attempted becomes not fruitful as subjects are doomed to live in the society or be crossed out of it.
