Common property resource management focuses on collective ways of managing natural resources. There have been numerous questions since then to explore the right way of management so that each one could have proper share of free and available resources. The emphasis of this particular research is on how does women play a role in managing and sharing common property resources in their catchments, their relationship with the environment on regular basis. This research study titled Common property resource management by women folk at village level: A study in three villages of Madhya Pradesh. The three villages namely , Pipalana, Supala and Khomai was studied on the ways of how does women contribute in management of the common resources of villages and that created through government intervention. Findings and analysis justifies that women have initiated the process of management through SHG formation and had been actively involved and hence successful in resource management. Although they faced number of barriers which is discussed in detail, in handling household work with other livelihood dependency, still they participated through collective action.

Autorentext

Dr Rashmi teaches at the Department of History, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. She has held fellowships from British Academy and Charles Wallace India Trust (UK). She has earned her doctorate from JNU (New Delhi) for her research on Madras and before moving to Hyderabad, she was teaching in a postgraduate college of Delhi University.
