A Stylistic and Thematic Analysis of Kiswahili Short Stories
Details
The short story genre in general and the Kiswahili Short Story in particular has from the Twentieth Century been rising in stature to claim its rightful place in Kiswahili Literature. This development is evidenced by a significant rise in the number of short story anthologies produced by publishing houses. This book critically analyzes Swahili short stories both stylistically and thematically. The author delves in to diverse issues of style and analyzes various thematic concerns explored by many different authors. The universal approach adopted by the author enables the reader to be able to have a clear understanding of stylistic and thematic issues not only in Kiswahili short stories but most importantly to understand how these issues can be similarly treated in literature from elsewhere in the world. Therefore this text will be of great interest and value to Literature Scholars who are interested in learning about Swahili Literature in general or Swahili Short Story in particular.
