A VISION TOWARDS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

The Technical University "Luis Vargas Torres" of Esmeraldas (UTLVTE) is a public higher education institution that has been legally operating since 1970. It was created on May 21, 1970 by Executive Decree 436, issued by the President of the Republic at that time, Dr. José María Velasco Ibarra, and its first Rector was Dr. Luis Prado Viteri.In 2012, the evaluation process of all universities and polytechnic schools in Ecuador was carried out, placing UTLVTE in category "D" of the Higher Education system.In 2013, UTLVTE was intervened by the Higher Education Council - CES, due to administrative, academic and financial irregularities detected, and from that year until July 2017, four teams of interveners (administrative, academic and research) succeeded each other, which did not contribute significantly to the orientation and takeoff of the alma mater of Esmeraldas.
