ABC Online: Becoming the ABC

What happens when public service broadcasting meets theinternet? In the nineteen nineties public service broadcastingaround the world was under threat. In Australia, funds were beingcut from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), and the ABCwas spoken of in terms of crisis. And yet, at this very moment, theABC developed an online presence that became one of the mostsuccessful in the world. This book asks: can the understanding ofthe broader ABC be enhanced by an analysis of the implementation ofABC Online? This book uses a Deleuzian and Foucauldian framework toilluminate how we might rethink the ABC using ABC Online. It isthus both an empirical examination of aspects of ABC Online and atheoretical conversation, which uses ABC Online to think with andagainst Foucauldian and Deleuzian/Guattarian analytics.
