Acoli Intangible Cultural Heritage Book

This book identifies various cultural elements which were very much cherished by our ancestors but because of so many external factors, they are seriously threatened such that they are in need of urgent safeguarding so as to prevent them from complete extinction for the good of the upcoming generations. Cultural identity is just like backbones for holistic development of human being. Hence a person or people without culture are regarded those without a foundation and direction. This book is therefore aim at promoting and safeguarding the skills, techniques, norms, values, beliefs, indigenous knowledge and languages alongside supporting actors and institutions that promote culture and strengthen Uganda's diverse cultural identities to uphold the existing heritage in this case for the Acoli community sustainable development.

Autorentext

Okello Quinto ist nicht nur Direktor der GUTA, sondern auch Nachkomme einer königlichen Familie und bekleidet jetzt das Amt des Premierministers des Pageya-Häuptlingstums. Er ist auch der Vorsitzende der Pageya Youth Association (PAYA). Quinto ist von Beruf Lehrer im Ruhestand und war dreizehn Jahre lang im Ministerium für Bildung und Sport tätig.
