The Cranberry Fruitworm (Acrobasis vaccinii) is a moth of the family Pyralidae. It is found from Nova Scotia to Florida and from Wiscon to Texas, it is introduced in Washington.The wingspan is 16-18 mm. The larva feed on Vaccinium corymbosum, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Vaccinium vitis-idaea and Vaccinium stamineum. Larvae feed inside a berry until most of its contents have been consumed.A moth is an insect closely related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Moths form the majority of this order; there are thought to be 150,000 to 250,000 different species of moth (about ten times the number of species of butterfly), with thousands of species yet to be described.
