Acute and chronic usage of morphine cause degeneration of some parts of brain which responsible for cognition activity such as learning and memory .In this study we investigate the Acute, sub acute, sub chronic and chronic administration of morphine on learning and memory by using Moris Water Maze, Active Avoidance Test and Passive Avoidance Test. Our data demonstrated that acute administration of morphine does not impact on cognition behavior but sub acute, sub chronic and chronic administration of morphine can be alter learning and memory. Thus, morphine abuse in addition to dependency can caused a loss of learning and memory functions.

Dr. Majid Motaghinejad was born in1985 at I.R. Iran. He is currently a PhD student ,as the top student (grade A),and Research Assistant of Medical Pharmacology in Tehran and Iran University of Medical Sciences. His fields of studies are neuroscience, Neuropharmacology, Addiction, Pain, Stress and Neurostructure disorders.
