Adherence to the Mediterranean lifestyle in the obese

Overweight and obesity have become one of the most recognized major public health problems worldwide and therefore adherence to the Mediterranean lifestyle has been elaborated as the ultimate solution needed to cope with it. This study aimed to describe the adherence to the Mediterranean lifestyle in obese adults. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study using a quantitative approach that included obese and overweight adults aged between 18 and 65 years with a BMI greater than or equal to 25 Kg/m². We used the MEDLIFE questionnaire inspired by the literature, consisting of three parts was administered. This study on 130 patients followed at the CHU HEDI CHAKER of Sfax, was carried out between March and April 2022.Regarding the results, the adherence to the Mediterranean lifestyle was good in 38.5% of patients, average in 31.54% and low in 30% of patients.It appeared important to know the prevention through the application of hygienic-dietary rules and to establish programs that aim to improve their knowledge of the Mediterranean lifestyle through folded leaflets in the hospital.
