Advanced Simulation of a Three Phase Induction Motor

The modern day variable frequency drives demand very rugged converters supplying power to the electric motors in a thermally and mechanically challenging environment. The converters need to handle relatively higher voltage and current levels and the controls have to exploit every bit of the installed capacity. This book highlights some of the severe conditions related to control issues that the high power industries like traction, wind and heavy automobile have to tackle. Three phase Induction motor drives have been selected for analysis as these find direct applications in medium to high power industries. Squirrel cage induction machine has been used for this study as it still finds wide spread applications with a high degree of industrial confidence in comparison with the other machine types.
