Advances in Organoselenium Chemistry

This book explores the chemistry of organic compounds containing carbon-selenium bonds with a special emphasis on cyclic di-selenides and selenenyl-sulfides. These compounds exhibit unique properties and are utilized in various applications, including organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and materials science. Selenium, a chalcogen like oxygen and sulfur, forms bonds with carbon that are weaker and longer than their sulfur or oxygen counterparts, leading to distinct reactivity.

Dr Gaurango Chakrabarty obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Rangapara College (Autonomous), Assam, India. His research interests include organic selenium compounds, their synthesis and biological activities.
