Aerodrome Emergency Preparedness

In this era of modernization and globalization,the world is increasingly becoming interconnected through among others, air transport. This has seen a rise in use of air transport, with a corresponding increase in risks arising from this mode of transport. This book assesses the extent of emergency preparedness at a Kenyan airport at a time when it is undergoing upgrading from local to international status. It looks at preparedness in terms of Measures in place (Planning & Resource allocation, Training and Exercising),Community Participation, Collaboration of the various Stakeholders and the role of Regulation in addressing emergency preparedness. The book highlights the successes as well as the gaps in emergency preparedness in the airport and proposes a raft of recommendations to remedy the situation. This research can be replicated to other emergency contexts. The book also gives baseline information on emergency preparedness status of the airport, that can be measured against the findings of a subsequent research.
