Details

This book was carried out to see if there is any association of different epidemiological factors and under 30 diabetic patients who require insulin for their treatment. This type of diabetes is common in Bangladesh,African countries and accounts for about 30% of insulin requiring diabetic patients.Although they require insulin but they are not type ! diabetic and they don't develop keto-acidosis. Previously they were grouped as a separate entity by technical expert committee on diabetes as MRDM,but now they have been merged with IDDM in new WHO classification. These type of diabetic patients are malnourished,BMI<17,require large doses of insulin.Different epidemiological factors are thought be responsible for this type of diabetes namely mal nutrition, consumption of cassava, immunodeficiency,HLA association, inflammation & fibrosis in pancreas. We studied 45 MRDM and 20 control and observed these parameters and came to conclusion that MRDM represents a subtype of Type 1 diabetes. Results of this thesis will help diabetic researchers for further study in type 1 diabetes and its subclasses.
