Ageing

Praxis provides the individual with a wealth of knowledge that allows him/her to theorize in any sphere of scientific knowledge. It is for that reason that in this work the author takes as antecedent the experience lived in her childhood to enter in the subject object of investigation referred to the care of the older adult. The coexistence with her maternal grandparents in the second stage of life between 6 and 10 years old approximately, and the later care already as an adult of her mother with sequels of a cerebral infarction, were sufficient factological and motivational elements to initiate in the study of a period to which every human being aspires to arrive; and it is precisely, in times of contemporaneity where an accelerated growth of the aged population has taken place at world-wide level. In the area of Latin America and the Caribbean, Uruguay and Cuba are the countries with the highest rate of adult population over 65 years old and it has been considered that in 2030, 30% of the Cuban population will be aged, which implies the development of strategies and public policies to raise the fertility rate weakened in recent years by economic and social constraints.
