Agri-food systems based on the principles of Natural Agriculture

This book addresses research on the activities and relationships developed around the Brazilian agribusiness Korin Agropecuária Ltda. A company with a unique origin, founded on the principles, concepts, and methods of Natural Agriculture advocated by Mokiti Okada (Japan, 1882-1955), emphasizing the need for a perfect balance between human activities and the forces of nature in order to achieve good production results, prioritizing food safety, interaction and respect for nature, and the health and socioeconomic well-being of the agents participating in this system. We primarily address sustainability from the perspective of the multifunctionality of agriculture, also addressing the development of the company from the perspective of Localized Agri-Food Systems (SIAL) together with integrated poultry farmers, allowing us to verify that the practice of Natural Agriculture has contributed synergistically to the recognition of the multifunctionality of agriculture in the territory in question, boosting and consolidating a localized agri-food system from a perspective of sustainability in agricultural production.

He is a Veterinarian and holds a master's degree in Animal Science from FMVZ-UNESP Botucatu, a doctorate in Applied Ecology from ESALQ/CENA USP, and won the Capes Thesis Award in 2015 in the field of Environmental Sciences. For 20 years, he has been working with agricultural models based on Natural Agriculture and ecological principles for Korin Agropecuária and the Mokiti Okada Foundation.
