Faced with the challenges posed by global warming and increasing dependence on fossil fuels, algae are emerging as a promising resource for the future of energy. In this book, Dr Aouzal Badis and Ms Maachia Leila explore this unprecedented potential through a scientific study dedicated to the production of biodiesel from a consortium of algae (Spirogyra sp., Oedogonium sp. and Synedra).By combining modern extraction methods with a transesterification process, their research achieved a remarkable 94% biodiesel yield. The quality of the final product was confirmed by infrared spectrometry, attesting to the presence of methyl esters comparable to those found in conventional diesel.This book highlights the biotechnological and ecological prospects of algae, paving the way for a sustainable, environmentally-friendly energy alternative. Dr. Aouzal Badis is an Algerian scientist specializing in animal ecophysiology, studying at the "20 Août 1955" University of Skikda. Affiliated during his doctoral years with the Laboratoire de Recherche en Interactions, Biodiversité, Écosystèmes et Biotechnologie (LIBEB) Skikda, he focuses his work on environmental effects on health.
